Olukemi Mimiko - a Caring Mother in Government House




Mrs. Olukemi Mimiko was born in the city of Lagos to Mr Isaac and Mrs Felicia Adeniyi, a third of seven children.
She commenced her elementary education in Ibadan and later proceeded to St. Louis Grammar School, IkereEkiti where she passed out in flying colours.
Olukemi Mimiko had a brief work experience at FUTA, as a Library Assistant before she got admission into the prestigious University of Ife, now ObafemiAwolowo University, Ile Ife, and bagged B.A. (Ed), in French
After serving her country for the mandatory NYSC at Owerri, Imo State, she taught in Jubilee Community Grammar SchoolOndo, St. Peters Unity Secondary School and Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, both in Akure and crossed to the State civil service as an Education Officer in 2000 and later joined the Administrative cadre.
MrsOlukemi Mimiko supports her husband in running the Iroko Farms, known for its vast fish stock after quitting the Civil Service and blends well with the idiosyncrasies of her doctor turned politician husband.
Her sense of empathy and quest to positively impact on people in the areas of health, education and total wellness is not only commendable but inspiring, blossomed into her founding the Maternal Pulse Foundation, working towards the total well-being of the woman through but not limited to
1.            Giving support to family of multiple births
2.            Medical assistance to indigent patients, particularly cancer.
3.            Mentorship of school age pupils, with particular focus on the girl child.
4.            Women empowerment and capacity building.

She is a tireless goal getter and an achiever, who has received some public commendation from notable quarters; including but not limited to:
1. Diamond Partner Award from the African center for gender support and    development, from the ObafemiAwolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State.
2. Gold Merit Award of Excellence from the National Association of Women Journalist.
3. Award of Excellence from the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Gender issues in science and Technology, from the Federal University of Technology Akure.
4. Award of recognition for support and contribution of the use and distribution of long lasting insecticidal nets for protection against Malaria, in conjunction with the Ondo State Ministry of Health.
5. Award for outstanding contributions towards the promotion of women health development, moral values and ethics.

A strong believer, loyal and dutiful wife, a considerate woman and a generous giver.  A source of encouragement to many, always ready to render assistance.
Mrs. Olukemi Mimiko enjoys reading, singing and travelling to explore new horizons, though she lacks the time to so indulge.
